Looking to Lumecca IPL to get even with your sunspots and wondering how long your skin-brightening results will last? We’re here to shed some light on the matter.

Lumecca by InMode, like most nonsurgical and minimally invasive cosmetic treatments, is a temporary fix, albeit a long-lasting one. This IPL treatment will require maintenance sessions at some point to maintain desired results, but its important to know when and how many treatments you will need.

Lumecca is a state-of-the-art, advanced form of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) that uses innovative light therapy to target mulitple skin issues. These skin issues include sun damage/photoaging, freckles, sunspots, rosacea, broken capillaries, acne scarring, enlarged pores, spider veins, and other vascular irregularities or hyperpigmentation concerns. The beauty of Lumecca is its ability to easily treat a wide variety of skin types and a multitude of areas in just a single session.

Traditional IPL treatments require up to 8 sessions to yield desired results, different from Lumecca, which gets the job done in as little as 1-2 sessions, with no dreaded downtime, cutting, or scarring. Lumecca is the trendsetting, noninvasive alternative to time-consuming lasers and chemical peels that can often leave a patient red and raw for a considerable amount of time. So, it’s no wonder patients are seeing the light and turning to Lumecca to give their skin the brightening boost it deserves. It is important to look at all aspects of a procedure: affordability, downtime and recovery, quick results, and the ability to “test drive” a particular procedure before committing to a more invasive option. For this reason, patients are looking to these more minimally invasive/noninvasive options like IPL and other nonsurgical cosmetic procedures which pose little to no risk.

Light at the End of the Tunnel: How Long will My Results Last Following IPL Treatments?

While each patient is unique and requires a customized treatment plan to realize their desired results, results from Lumecca light therapy treatments typically last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years before follow-up and/or maintenance. When beginning with Lumecca, most patients will require 1-2 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, before desired, skin-brightening results are achieved. Each Lumecca session takes between 30 and 60 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the treatment area(s). Following a Lumecca IPL session, darkened areas will continue to darken further for 7-10 days, before naturally sloughing off, revealing a brighter, more luminous look and smoother texture. Results will continue to optimize for two weeks following each session. While most patients will enjoy 6 months to two years of beautiful, bright skin before follow-up treatments are required, you can maximize and prolong your beautiful, radiant results by:

  • Slathering broad-spectrum sunscreen daily
  • Committing to a medical-grade, rigorous skincare routine tailored to your skin type/concerns
  • Scheduling maintenance, in-office procedures, such as facials and injectables, as a comprehensive approach to beautiful, healthy, younger-looking skin

What NOT To Expect from Your Lumecca IPL Treatments

It’s important to keep in mind that Lumecca by InMode treatments will NOT prevent aging/wrinkles/sagging, sun damage, or other future damage. Lumecca is precisely designed to effectively reverse present and past damage, specifically hyperpigmentation and vascular irregularities. It’s up to you, as the patient, to maintain your radiant results for as long as possible by partaking in proactive skincare, sun exposure prevention, and scheduling regular visits with your DG Aesthetics clinician for organic facials and other skin-saving procedures. The health and beauty of your skin is contingent on regular, steadfast upkeep and maintenance, like the rest of your body.
